Force the pin up from the door hinge.
Remove door hinge pin with bottom cap.
You don t remove the bottom caps you start a small screwdriver in the crack just below the upper cap and lightly tap upwards to get the hinge pin started up.
Grab the bottom cap with the vice grips and lock down.
For stability take the bottom hinges out first then the top.
The third has a cap on the bottom that unscrews it is threaded into the bottom of one side of the hinge and when removed you can see the hinge pin.
Wrong way to remove a hinge pins the wrong way involves using an old nail or screwdriver with a hammer.
I can t use a nail to drive the pin up through the hinge because the bottom cap is too big to fit through the hing in.
Then use your hammer to push the nail punch up and under the pin until it dislodges.
If the hinge pin continues to resist easy removal a few squirts of household lubricant will likely help ease it out.
Second the hinges don t look like the one on my door.
If the door has a triple hinge remove the middle pin first.
When it comes to removing a door hinge pin there are 2 ways to go about it.
Once the pin is up a few centimeters you can use your screwdriver to pry it all the way up.
Once it s up far enough you can change to a bigger screwdriver and it should move right on up and out.
The right way and the wrong way.
I have a door that swings open i ve watched a few videos about removing the pin and bending it to stop the swing.
Unfortunately none of the videos i ve watched have a hinge like mine in the photo the left hand side of the hinge forms the top and bottom caps.
Then gently tap the vice grip until the bottom cap comes off.
You put the screwdriver or nail at the bottom of the hinge touching the bottom of the hinge pin and knock it out with a hammer.
All that being said when hinge bolts are painted over it is usually easier to unscrew the hinge from either the door or the frame then to fight the bolt.
Sliding books underneath the crack in the door will give the door a surface to sit on while you remove the pins.
None of that video helps me.
Simply spray the lubricant into the gaps under the hinge cap the hinge bottom.
